FrIdAy CoNfEsSiOnAl

I am so glad Friday is finally here! That means tomorrow is SATURDAY! Yeahoooo!!! I love Saturdays because I get to spend the whole day with my Jeff! =) Any way, back to the real point of this  post.....

I proudly confess:

  • I have discovered online garden nurseries.
  • This past week I have purchased 3 Kaliedascope butterfly bushes and 1 Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea bush for my yard.
  • ALL ONLINE!
  • Take that Glover Nursery (that doesn't have any plants yet!)
  • Ok it really isn't the Nurseries fault that they don't have flowers yet.
  • I understand it is only March and still snowing...But I am ready to GARDEN!!!
  • Therefore, while working this week I have been shopping for plants.
  • Tonight I shop for more dahlia bulbs.
  • Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers.
  • I think they have bypassed my love for lilies.
  • Jeff does not like my gardening obsession.
  • I talk about landscaping and he cringes and thinks about how the money could buy him an iPad.
  • I hate the male obsession with computers and electronics.
  • I sigh in exasperation every time he mentions that he "NEEDS" a new gaming computer.
  • UGH!!!! Just hurt me!
  • Next time I am going to tell him that his "needing" a new computer is like me "needing" a pair of Jimmy Choos.
  • I keep telling him that if he would get his muscle car sold I would allow him to get an iPad.
  • Does anyone want a 1960something, cherry red Pontiac?
  • I want it sold....like last year.....
  • If we sold it, I could get an arbor with a gate for my garden!
  • That would be wonderful.

Well, that's it for this week. Go ahead and check out my new bushes below.

I Want a Secret Garden Too!

Ever since I was a wee lass I have ADORED the Secret Garden. It was my favorite movie, one of my favorite musicals and my favorite imagination game.
Did you ever play imagination games? Well, its like playing house but instead we played like we were characters in the secret garden. I would get together with my two friends, Angie and Tiffany, and we would dress up in fancy dresses  and run around parks and our yards and anywhere else we could turn into a secret garden.
I believe this obsession with The Secret Garden was what sparked my enthusiasm for gardening.
I WANT A SECRET GARDEN STAT!
On Saturday my SIL and I went to Tai Pan to buy some spring decor. They had thousand of silk flowers on display throughout the entire store. They also had a section of iron garden decor. They had these awesome archways, gazebo's, cafe tables, fountains, etc. OH MY HECK! It made me crazy with the need to create my own secret garden. I am a bit obsessed with it now. I CANNOT WAIT FOR FLOWERS! I just want to start planting a million bushes and flowers and shrubs and trees and..... Unfortunately, starting from scratch, like I would have to do, would take years to get the desired 'overgrown' affect I want.
I guess that means I better get started now!

I feel that a secret garden needs an overgrown archway...

Also, a nice gate would be lovely.

Ooooo, and a pond.

And of course, a place to sit and enjoy it all.

SIGH I think secret gardens are just plain Romantic, with a capital "R".

Friday Confessional

So since I skipped last weeks confessional I figured I better man-up and do an extra good one this week.

I confess:
  • I totally roll my eyes when I read FB status updates that say, "I AM TOTALLY BLESSED!!!!!".
  • UGH!!!!!!!
  • It's not that I have anything against people that are grateful. I think we all need to be grateful for the blessings in our lives...even the bitty ones.  I just get tired of the oober perky, unrealisticly perfect fronts some people put on.
  • I am pretty sure this makes me a bitter ol' bitty.
  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  • I have been having a lot of  FUN-DIP candy lately...left-over from valentines.
  • I like the sugar rush.
  • Even though I have been using my KINDLE a lot (thanks hubby!), I still crave real books.
  • I made Jeff take me into Barns and Noble after dinner the other night just to look around and it was so wonderful.
  • Bookstores are calming.
  • When I was traveling around Germany with my dad for a month I made him find me a bookstore that had an English section.
  • A foreign country with a brand new car and a crazy dad that took said car up the side of mountains to find castles caused a lot of stress.
  • The moment I walked into the bookstore I was rejuvenated. I took a deep breath and was washed in calm.
  • I am SO TOTALLY BLESSED to live where there are bookstores.
  • BAH!
  • No but really, I love books.

Musings from the sleep deprived.

Did I ever tell you about the time I decidedly stopped thinking Aquia Di Gio was the cologne of choice?
Well, back in my first year of college I was attending an anatomy class at USU. I had already, long before, decided that nursing was going to be my profession so I dove head first into the required pre-reques.
One of my dearest classes was Human Anatomy. SIGH That class was just fascinating. I had an amazing but difficult teacher by the name of Andy Anderson...I think..Meh, that detail isn't important.
Any way, as you could probably guess, the class required you to attend lab. This was a very helpful and hands-on way to learn about the body.
On our first day of lab we were all sitting around 'rubbing shoulders', so to speak, with a bunch of cadavers. Ah, I loved anatomy lab. There is nothing quite like the smell of formaldehyde in the the early afternoon.
I remember pushing up my sleeves and just "digging in", if you catch my drift. Everyone was having a wonderful time just getting to know the basic lay-out of our new friends and the room in general. There was so much to see!.
As I moseyed on over to a brain to get a closer look, the adorable student teacher came in and introduced himself.
Along with the presence of the student teacher there was a new scent. A very familiar but somewhat out of place scent. Then it hit me. A big strong whiff of Aqua Di Gio. Holy moly I swear the man was marinated in it. The cologne mixed with the smell of formaldehyde in a very unfriendly way. I couldn't help but immediately associate the very popular scent with the very unpopular smell of preserved flesh.
I came to understand that the only way someone could wear this amazing cologne in such an offensive manner would be to cover up the smell of gruesome preservatives that surely permeated his clothing and hair from long hours in the lab room. Unfortunately however innocent his intent was in the use of this cologne, it forever ruined me.
From that day on, any time I smelled Aqua Di Gio, I remembered that brain floating in the jar.

Crafty Time

Yeesh I have totally slacked on the blogging. I have been busy with projects. I finally finished one of my projects. Its an earring organizer. I was searching for a jewelry organization solution on the web and I saw something that was attractive and helpful.

I found a blog that gave me the idea to make a picture frame earring holder. It was way easy and holds quite a few earrings. As you can see, it is very organized. I love that I can easily see what I have. I was getting so sick of searching through the jewelry box for a match.
All you need is a picture frame with the glass removed, some chicken wire, some fabric of your choice, cardboard,  and a hot glue gun. Easy Cheesy!

Another project I recently participated in is actually my SIL's. I helped her get started on refinishing some dressers. I can't wait to see the final projects! We are painting my nieces dresser FUCHSIA! I think it is fantastic!!!!

Amber sanding away!

Me worn out from sanding.

Getting ready to paint.

Jeff was kind enough to take over for a few minutes so I could shake out my dead leg and take some pics.
First coat of pink! Woohooo! It is going to be awesome!
